 I have years of successful experience in a variety of educational positions and leadership roles where collaborative problem solving was required. Advocating for the needs of your student does not need to mean being adversarial. I want to help you maintain a working relationship with the school district since you may need to be partners with them for years to come.  Students and their families deserve to be treated with respect and truly listened to hear your concerns and input. School district staff also deserve respect which will lead to a more positive outcome for your student, which is the goal. Assertive advocacy that supports the interest of students can be achieved in a collaborative atmosphere.

 I will be honest with you. I will share what I see as the best supports and services for your student. I know that the end goal of each parent is to see our child be as independent as possible in life. With this goal in mind, I will share my years of experience in education to share with you the best path toward achieving this. I will not delay processes or suggest services that are not reasonable for your student. My goal is to help you in the most efficient means possible to get the free appropriate public education that your student is entitled to receive. 

 Since starting in public education, my passion has been educating students with special needs. All students have challenges and gifts, but for those with special needs, the strengths and unique gifts they bring to the educational system can be overlooked. Schools can often miss opportunities to capitalize on them, but I will bring an expertise and love of kids to the process to find solutions that support your student’s success in school and life beyond!
